Cycles, tides, slowness, repetition; a shift in perspective from city to coast.

Through rolling lockdowns. Five housemates to none.

Scaling the dunes; a sunset ritual. Headphones on. A camera holding my hand.

I walk the same path through cycling seasons; tidal rise & fall rhythms.

Watching as rockpools fill & drain, echidnas hide & seek,

as snakes are lively after winter, and tea-tree releases its honey scent.

I’ve been missing you, Country, but now you have my attention.

I see your patterns. Your changes. I feel our connection.

An isolation that in a way, wasn't isolating at all,

but one of appreciation, introspection, awe.

Dunes time-capsules a slowing down, and a feeling I don’t want to forget;

a discovery of new in the comfort of old,

and a joy in the company of nature.
